Title: I Have Totaly Lost My Mind
MyBoyGus - June 24, 2010 02:34 AM (GMT)
I swore off puppies for a while after Cayenne, she was enough to cure a puppy fix. She was very sweet and pretty good for a pup, and Gus liked her, but I was ready to foster the older guys. So, I got a phone call from the rescue today. They are taking 4 pups in, they had everything arranged, including a foster who was begging for a pup to foster. I guess 4 was too many for her, and she canceled on the pups. So guess who got a panicked phone call tonight to take the pups? You guessed it. They will be coming on Thursday night or Friday. Poor Gus, I don't know if he can take 4 of them, they are 3 months old.
Rusty's mom - June 24, 2010 02:21 PM (GMT)
:holeymoley: Don't worry they will go fast. I can't wait to hear their names. Poor babies.
Hey, did you hear that here where I live they just past a law that allllll pit bull owners have to spay and neuter there Pits. Even mix breeds. THere are pit bull owners really mad. Well to bad. I wish everyone would spay and neuter their dogs and clean up the mess we have here with shelters full of wonderful animals who could be adopted.
Thanks for what you are doing. You are not out of your mind. :hugsmiley

And just to make things more confusing, 2 are going to be for 1 rescue, and 2 will be for a different rescue. 3 are part of the same litter, and they are mixed with German shorthaired pointer they think, but who knows. The 4th came in on his own, They are all about the same age, so I will have all of them. Their names are Scooter, Skipper, Skeeter, and Fisher. I will be getting them tonight or tomorrow.
MyBoyGus - June 24, 2010 11:45 PM (GMT)
Well, the good news is that I located an x-pen that isn't being used. I gave the one that I was using for the litter back to the puppy person who has a litter right now. It is one thing to keep track of 1 puppy running around your house, it is another thing to keep track of 4. Anyway, here are the pics I have of them, they are coming Friday.

Skipper

Skeeter

Scooter

Fisher
Skipper and Skeeter will be placed by 1 rescue, Fisher and Scooter will be placed by another. They will all be with me. :shrug
Rusty's mom - June 26, 2010 01:32 PM (GMT)
:hugsmiley :hugsmiley They are all darling. I love that little pointed heads.
MyBoyGus - June 27, 2010 06:58 PM (GMT)
They all have coccidia. But they seem to be doing well, it is not making them sick. They are very cute. There have been a few scuffles, Fisher has been out of the litter environment for a while, not sure for how long. Poor guy was stray. Scooter, Skipper and Skeeter were found in a box, they are very shy. Skeeter cries when you pick him up because he is very scared. Once he is in your arms, he will just melt into you and give you nice kisses. All of them will melt into you when you hold them. When you have them securely, they relax.
Rusty's mom - June 28, 2010 12:43 AM (GMT)
Poor little guys. Found in a box just makes me so mad.
Hows Gus doing.
MyBoyGus - June 28, 2010 01:57 AM (GMT)
Gus is not a happy boy. He only interacts with them when they go outside. He is teaching them respect for their elders. They run out and go straight to him, and he growls and woof at him because they are jumping at his face. He is very good about it, it is only a woof to tell them to cut it out. I finally got collars on them so now I have something to grab them by, they are slippery little suckers.
MyBoyGus - June 28, 2010 04:29 PM (GMT)
And we have had our first jailbreak. Skipper has figured out how to go over the top of the puppy pen,and he thinks it is fun. So Skipper is in the crate for now. Somebody gave them some toys that squeek. Ugh. I need earplugs.
SuzySues - June 28, 2010 07:42 PM (GMT)
Oh poor little loves. I can't believe dear little Fisher was a stray!! He must have been so scared. It makes me so angry!! Have fun with them Mel, they sound wonderful! I am so glad they are going to be loved for the rest of their lives they deserve it Labs are so loving. I want to cuddle them all up! :hugsmiley

:laughingsmile :laughingsmile oh and he looks like the guy that will get into the trouble.
Is Skeeter as sweet is he looks. He melts my heart. That soft look in his face. :hugsmiley
MyBoyGus - June 29, 2010 03:23 AM (GMT)
Skeeter was scared to death in that pic. The brothers are all very shy, but they are getting better. Skeeter cries when you pick him up, not because it hurts, we had him checked at the vet, but because he is scared. But once you have him securely in your arms, he will relax and then give you kisses. The all do. Good thing since I have to get them out and shove a pill down each of their throats every morning, they have coccidia. Even so, they all come running to the edge of the pen when I go near, and they come when I put my hands and arms into the pen, and all give me kisses.
drbyer - June 29, 2010 10:19 PM (GMT)
What a great bunch. They all look so precious. Not much better than puppy kisses. Poor Gus, always the good teacher, though. Give him an extra hug for me.
MyBoyGus - June 30, 2010 02:57 PM (GMT)
They give very nice kisses. However their teeth and their nails (claws) are lethal. I thought my arms were shredded before. It looks like I have been attacked by a lion or tiger now.You can really only effectively ward off 1 or 2 at a time, it is hard to ward off 4.
Somebody is coming to see them this afternoon. So hopefully I will only have 3 after tonight.
MyBoyGus - July 1, 2010 01:07 AM (GMT)
Fisher got adopted tonight. 1 down, 3 to go.
GOODTIMN - July 1, 2010 04:53 AM (GMT)
OH MY COCCIDIA IS CONTAGIOUS, I KNOW THAT GUS HAS BEEN AROUND MANY MANY PROBLEMS WITH HEALTH ISSUES WITH YOUR FOSTERS, BUT HECK HMMMMM I THINK NOW I WILL KEEP MY MOUTH SHUT.....
JUST KEEP GUS AND YOU SAFE, COCCIDIA CAN ALSO CAUSE A PROBLEM WITH PEOPLE!!!!!!!
I HAVEN'T PERSONNALLY BEEN THEIR WITH THIS BUT A FEW OF MY FRIENDS HAVE DEALT WITH IT IN THE PAST, AND THEY NOT ONLY LOST THEIR WHOLE LITTER BUT ALSO HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ADULT DOGS AND WITH THEM SELVES ALSO...
JUST BE CAREFUL, MEL!!!!
MyBoyGus - July 1, 2010 05:46 AM (GMT)
They are all being treated. It is usually only a problem under 6 months of age. They seem to all be doing well.
MyBoyGus - July 3, 2010 05:13 PM (GMT)
Scooter got adopted today, to a really nice family.2 down, 2 to go.

:hugsmiley Oh that little pointed headed guy was so cute. Great job.
MyBoyGus - July 12, 2010 01:38 AM (GMT)
Skipper found a new home today. Skeeter has somebody who is interested in him, the rescue needs to verify their permission with the landlord. And the rescue asked me to take 2 more pups. I said no. Gus and I need a break.
Rusty's mom - July 12, 2010 03:09 PM (GMT)
I hope he gets a great home. Apartments really bother me because of the dog haters in the world. Is he going to be a small dog? I hope it works out for them.
MyBoyGus - July 12, 2010 04:35 PM (GMT)
It isn't an apartment, they are renting a house.

 :hugsmiley :hugsmiley I love number three picture. His face is changing but sweeter than before. He looks sleepy in the second picture. I wish him the best. He looks like a good boy too. Give him a kiss from me.
MyBoyGus - July 21, 2010 12:25 AM (GMT)
He is very sweet, and has pretty much gotten over his shyness. Somebody is coming to look at him tomorrow, they have a 4 year old and a 7 month old kids. And he loves Gus, everybody does. Gus is patient with him, but is not that fond of him.
SuzySues - July 21, 2010 08:08 PM (GMT)
Oh he is so sweet, how can anyone resisit him. I love the "tippy head" 3rd shot of him :love663:
MyBoyGus - July 25, 2010 05:47 PM (GMT)
Scooter found a new home today. The rescue had an adoption day about an hour away from me. A young couple went looking for a puppy, and they called me from the adoption day and drove over to see Scooter. Scooter gave them lots of kisses, and they fell in love with him and took him home. They live near the adoption day so they drove a long way to meet him. :clap Yay for Scooter. He is going to live in Annapolis so he will be near the water.
Rusty's mom - July 25, 2010 07:42 PM (GMT)
:jumpingsmiley1 Good for him. I am so happy for him I got pitter patters here..
hugs to you for helping all those puppies. :hugsmiley
drbyer - July 27, 2010 02:35 AM (GMT)
So, are you and Gus "empty nesters" now? Those were such cute puppies. I'm glad you were able to help them to their forever homes. Mel, I couldn't do what you do - blessings.
MyBoyGus - July 27, 2010 06:38 AM (GMT)
I think Gus is relieved that Scooter is gone. Gus tolerated Scooter, but I'm not sure he was happy about it. Scooter would cuddle up to Gus to take a snooze, and Gus is not a cuddler with other dogs. He has seemed much happier today than he has been for the last few weeks. Of course, the heat wave also broke a little bit today, so that could be part of it.
GoldenMom - July 27, 2010 05:42 PM (GMT)
Oh Gus! I haven't been on here in awhile so just saw this. Bless your heart and what a BIG heart you have - Gus too! They are just adorable but know they are a quadruple handful! Little Fisher looks like Debbie's Lucy! Hope the Coccidia didn't infect Gus. Hugs to you both!
