Title: Getting A Litter Of Puppies
MyBoyGus - May 24, 2010 03:24 PM (GMT)
We haven't had any puppies come in to the rescue for a while, you really don't have much control on if you have puppies or not. So 5 black pups came in on Friday, and I was going to get whatever was left mid week this week. Well, they all got adopted over the weekend, in 2 days. So they had told me that we probably had 7 chocolate pups in from a breeder, also 8 weeks old. Then yesterday, they asked me if I would take 5 yellow pups, also 8 weeks old. So now, we aren't sure if the chocolates from the breeder are coming in, he called but we haven't heard back from him, but we definitely have the 5 yellows. The 5 yellows turned out to be 3 yellows and 2 chocolates.
We also have a pregnant mother in the rescue, and one who just gave birth over the weekend. So after being through a puppy drought, we are now overflowing with pups. When it rains, it pours. So I will probably be posting pics of the pups sometimes this week.

I get so angry about the owners. How could they not want the mother and her babies. Or just the mother. The babies will find good homes. Its so sad to hear about over and over people breeding. I am glad you are there for them Mel. Geez that just makes me so mad at them. Why do they have to keep breeding if they can't take care of them.
Can't wait to see their cut little faces. Mom too if you get her. :hugsmiley

I won't get mom, just the pups. I'll post some pics of these "yellow" pups. Cracked me up, somebody needs glasses.

So adorable. What big paws you have.
Yes I do need glasses, how did you know.
MyBoyGus - May 24, 2010 07:38 PM (GMT)
Not you Carol, the person who said that there were 5 yellow pups. Two of those pups don't look yellow to me, look more like chocolate.
Rusty's mom - May 24, 2010 07:40 PM (GMT)
:laughingsmile yes but they are darling anyway. They should go very fast. Have fun with them. They make me want kiss the screen.
MyBoyGus - May 24, 2010 08:15 PM (GMT)
Of course they are cute anyway. Rescue is sometimes a form of that game telephone. Somewhere along the line, what was originally said gets messed up. I still don't know when they are being transported, they are in Richmond, VA now, and they have to come up to north of DC. I'm probably going to have to meet somebody , Richmond is about 2 hours away from me.

Yellow pup #2 looks like he/she is having a really bad day...

MyBoyGus - May 25, 2010 02:11 PM (GMT)
Pretty sure that yellow #2 is a boy, either that or there is a strange growth on the tummy. :laughingsmile He looks like they woke him up to take the picture.
MyBoyGus - May 26, 2010 12:14 AM (GMT)
OK, there are 4 yellows and 1 chocolate. The chocolate is a boy, and there are 2 yellow girls and 1 yellow boy. The 5th is yellow and the sex is unknown. Huh? I asked if they looked between the back legs, apparently they haven't. And I have to pick out names for them, I'm thinking of going with a Lost theme. Any suggestions?
drbyer - May 26, 2010 02:32 AM (GMT)
How do you not know??? Good luck with the names. They're all too cute. Love the big paws. I'm a sucker for big puppy feet. Can't wait to see more pictures!
MyBoyGus - May 26, 2010 02:48 AM (GMT)
I think they lost track. When they are 8 weeks, they are in constant motion.
MyBoyGus - May 26, 2010 11:55 PM (GMT)
OK, final count is 3 boys and 2 girls. I just got 1 more pic of them
drbyer - May 28, 2010 11:59 AM (GMT)
What sweet little faces! I didn't think to ask...are you fostering them all?!
Rusty's mom - May 28, 2010 02:34 PM (GMT)
Let the fun begin. :hugsmiley So cute.

Yes, I just picked them up. They are soooo cute.Yes, I am fostering them all. They don't like to break litters up.
MyBoyGus - May 28, 2010 07:49 PM (GMT)
2 have been adopted already. The reddish female and the chocolate male.
drbyer - May 30, 2010 12:50 AM (GMT)
Wonderful! They're just too cute for words. How's Gus do with puppies?
MyBoyGus - May 30, 2010 01:34 AM (GMT)
Gus doesn't really like them. They are little pests to him, scurrying around his feet and pulling on his fur. So he usually growls at them. which is fine. Sometimes, they steal his tennis balls, and Gus just lets them. This morning, they were all around him, and he was shaking like a leaf. That was really sad. Gus, it is 30 lbs of puppy, you weigh 75kbs. But they were jumping at his face this morning.

Oh they are so sweet, I love the golden one in the first pic. Reminds me of my old Lab X. It does make me cross that people breed then abanden them! Poor littel mites. At least this way they go to good homes though. Have fun with them Mel! :laughingsmile
MyBoyGus - May 30, 2010 03:36 PM (GMT)
That is Juliet. She is the runt of the litter. But she is the only one who has figured out how to climb out of the puppy pen. But she is a real cuddler.

Oh wow I am in love with Jin now!! I wish I lived nearer! :love663:
MyBoyGus - May 30, 2010 11:41 PM (GMT)
Jin got adopted this morning. And Miles just left, so it is just Juliet left.
GOODTIMN - May 31, 2010 06:56 AM (GMT)
GOSH, I THINK A FOREVER HOME IS IN ORDER, BUT PLEASE FIND A NEW NAME OTHER THAN JULIET..... :laughingsmile
MyBoyGus - June 2, 2010 12:30 AM (GMT)
Juliet is her lab rescue name, and whoever adopts her can name her whatever they want. The poor girl is very sick right now. She is anemic and dehydrated, they think she has a really bad case of parasites. She throws up after she eats and she isn't drinking. They rehydrated her at the vet today, and they think she needs a transfusion and will have to go to a different vet tomorrow. I'm worried about the girl.
Rusty's mom - June 3, 2010 01:16 AM (GMT)
Poor Juliet, that is so sad. I hope she gets better soon. That might take a while and make her very weak. Have you heard of the others getting this? The parasites I mean. Give her hugs from me and my guys. :hugsmiley
MyBoyGus - June 3, 2010 06:10 AM (GMT)
She had a really bad case of hook worms. She had a bad enough case that it was causing bleeding in her intestinal tract. Unfortunately, she didn't make it through the night to make it to the other vet. She died in my arms :sadsmiley2 She really went downhill fast, which happens sometimes with pups. So far, she seems to be the only one who is sick, they were supposedly wormed last week. The rescue is checking with everybody who adopted the other pups to make sure they have a stool sample checked. One of them called me directly, I didn't tell them about Juliet dying, just that she had a bad hook infestation and to make sure they had a stool checked. They weren't living in good conditions before we got them, so I think we saved 4 of them. I wonder if they missed her when they wormed the pups.
Rusty's mom - June 3, 2010 03:18 PM (GMT)
:sadsmiley2 How terrible for her. She was so pretty. She missed out on a wonderful loving home. Makes me sooooo mad. Rest in peace sweet heart.
SuzySues - June 4, 2010 08:15 PM (GMT)
Oh that is so sad. Poor little Juliet she was so sweet. :sadsmiley2
