Title: New Foster - Bear
MyBoyGus - May 15, 2010 02:36 PM (GMT)
I got a new foster this morning, his name is Bear. The poor boy is scared of everything, except me and Gus, and Gus likes him. He is very cute, and very sweet, but he is scared of noises. Gus barked at the door when the doorbell rang, and scared poor Bear half to death. He is sort of wandering around my chair trying to get me to constantly pet him. Anyway, here is Bear:

 He's a cutie. Is he white or cream. Poor guy. Well, Gus will get him out of that.

He is white. Gus likes him, and Bear likes Gus, but not enough to make him not afraid. Bear has finally calmed down a bit, and is resting under my computer desk. He is doing OK, but he gets upset at new sounds.

I wish I were in a better position to foster dogs ... You guys that do the foster family's for animals are the best and make me so happy. I'm sure Gus will help Bear out as much as he can. Is there a set time that you guys hold onto Foster Dogs?

We hold on to them until they are adopted. Gus really likes Bear, he actually played with Bear last night, it usually takes Gus a few days before he will play with a new foster. I think Gus knows when they are shy, he usually plays faster with the shy ones. It just takes longer for them to get adopted.

We had an adoption day today and Bear got adopted. As skittish as he is, he did well with all the people there and loved getting pets. I took Holly along with Bear and I to be Bear's moral support. Bear was closer to Gus, but Gus isn't always comfortable in crowds of people and Holly is. Next on the table is puppies. We got 5 black lab puppies in on Friday, and 2 were adopted yesterday. We have 7 chocolate pups coming in hopefully sometime this week. They are all 8 weeks old. I'm sure that the chocolates are beautiful, they are breeder puppies. Breeders are having a difficult time selling pups in this economy, so I think they are giving them up quickly. We'll see if the chocolates come in, not positive that is happening. And we supposedly had a pregnant mother coming in, but when she got here, the pups came with her. They are only a few days old. Somebody else is taking the mom and the pups, but I may get the other ones. That is one thing I like about doing rescue, you can get your puppy fix, but they usually aren't going to be around for very long. Who knows, maybe I'll keep one of them one of these days.
