Title: Phoebe
Description: A new foster sister for Gus

MyBoyGus - February 17, 2010 05:14 PM (GMT)
Well, Phoebe came over to visit for a while. We gave an adoption day on Sunday that hopefully won't be snowed out. We have had 2 adoption days snowed out this year. Snow isn't predicted, but this year, who knows.

Phoebe is a very sweet 2 year old black female. She was just spayed, so she can't play much for a while. Right now, she is sniffing around the house and checking out Gus's toys. Right now, Gus is ignoring her while Phoebe checks everything out. His normal. He is watching her, but not interacting much. She found one toy that has a speaker in it, it is a hippo and moos. If the sound box goes off, it scares her a little and she goes and finds another toy, but she comes back to it.

Her tail is always wagging and she really wants Gus to play.

Here is her pic, but I think she is actually much cuter than the pic shows.

:hugsmiley Oh she is sweet looking. I'm glad she likes toys. Maybe Gus will be friends after he gets used to her. Very pretty girl. Good luck to her on adoption day.

What a beautiful smile! She should get adopted quickly at adoption day. Fingers crossed for no snow.

I read through Phoebe's paperwork, and I found out that she is 1, not 2.5. Oops, the rescue has changed that on their records so she is listed correctly. She started coughing yesterday, not too bad, but I think she has kennel cough They transported Phoebe and another dog together to my house, another foster met us to take the other dog, but he is coughing too, so we won't be able to go to adoption day tomorrow. But somebody is coming to see her on Wednesday, so that is good.

She is a really sweet girl, and a good girl, but she is a bit dominant with other dogs. Not just Gus, but Holly and Desmond too. Gus sort of likes her, he can relax around her, but he isn't willing to play with her yet. His tail is wagging but he is a bit reserved with her. Some of it may be because she was just spayed last Monday, I'm not sure. She looks so sweet and innocent right now, it is her bedtime and she is asleep on a dog pillow behind me.

She sounds so sweet. Poor girl. kennel cough, I remember fostering for a local rescue and the dog had kennel cough. Can you just see 7 dogs with kennel cough one by one.

After she finally got over it, I really feel in love with her and didn't want to give her up but I did and cried all the way home. :hugsmiley

How's that sweet Phoebe doing. Is the kennel cough all gone? :hugsmiley

She is still here, but her cough is a bit better. I have had 3 inquiries about her today, 1 is coming tomorrow morning, and then I have to let the second know what happened with the first one. I haven't heard from the other person. It's Friday, so I guess everybody wants to plan visits for the weekend. Gus will actually play with her a bit now.

Phoebe has been adopted. It was a woman about my age and her daughter, they really loved Phoebe. Yay for Phoebe.

I called them a little while ago to ask how it was going. She was telling me how much Phoebe was running around, apparently she loves their big back yard and was running her butt off. Then she came in and was pacing a bit, and she finally lay down and took a nap. I laughed a little, and said, it has been a long time since you have been around a 1 year old. She laughed and said that she had forgotten, it has been along time since she had a puppy that age. She lost her 14.5 year old lab last August. So everything is going well.

The adoption coordinator forwarded me an email she got from the adoptive family today, they just love Phoebe. They have changed her name to Maggie, they were worried about it being OK to change her name. Of course it is OK that they changed her name, I liked the name Phoebe, but she is their dog now. The only foster I really wanted them to change the name was Debra, and they agreed with me. I'm glad that it has worked out so well for Phoebe/Maggie.

Yes, we adopted Phoebe on Saturday.  :)  She is soooo sweet and loving - a perfect match for our family.  We did change her name to Maggie.  I hope that is OK - but it seemed to fit her personality.  We have fallen in love with Phoebe/Maggie and she seems to be adjusting to our family.  She is eating well and loves the back yard - has enjoyed going for walks and loves squeak toys that she can take apart and remove the squeaker.  The foster mom was great and made the process of adoption very easy.  What a gift to have volunteers that are willing to care and love for these dogs until their forever home is found.

I wanted to thank you again for your assistance in this process.
My daughter and I feel that our family is more complete with Maggie in our lives.

I love hearing back from the adopters when it works out.
