Title: Wish Me Luck Everybody
Description: We are going to get 16-26 inchs of snow
MyBoyGus - February 5, 2010 03:48 AM (GMT)
We are in for a whopper of a snow storm. we are still about 18 hours out. I am right in the 16-24 inch band, a little farther west it 18-30 inches. North and south of me are due to get less. I am so tired of snow, we usually get 1 or 2 small snow storms, but this will be our second blizzard of the season, and we have had quite a few small storms. The 1-3 inches we were supposed to get on Tuesday turned into 6. Guess I'm going to be shoveling out on Saturday and Sunday. :shovel:

I wish you luck. Yuck I hate snow. We are waiting for our big rain to hit today with snow and lots and lots of wind. Our winds tear down buildings.
MyBoyGus - February 5, 2010 04:15 PM (GMT)
The snow is just starting now. This area is a mess when it snows, and it looks like this is a really big one.
2Goldens - February 5, 2010 04:43 PM (GMT)
Good luck !! We usually have a lot of snow here, but this winter we've not had much at all. Can't say I miss it !!
Hope you make out ok and stay safe & warm......
MyBoyGus - February 5, 2010 05:40 PM (GMT)
Take it back! :laughingsmile They just upped our forecast to 20-28 inches. Ugh.
Emma&Tilly - February 6, 2010 12:53 AM (GMT)
oh my goodness, stay safe Mel!! I don't know what on earth this country would do with that much snow!! Just stay in and warm and snuggling Gus!
MyBoyGus - February 6, 2010 04:48 PM (GMT)
SnowMyGod, we are having the snowpocalypse right now. We have had 24 inches (2 feet) already, and now they are calling for another 6-9 inches today. The snow is up to Gus's shoulders, and for a dog that loves the snow, he is not happy about it. I think the only thing I am doing today is :shovel: . 2Goldens, take the snow back please. The airports are all closed, the buses aren't running, the subway closed its above ground stations, nothing is moving. And it is still snowing. At least I have power, knock on wood. I lost it last night for about 3.5 hours.
Emma&Tilly - February 6, 2010 05:31 PM (GMT)
Blimey!! That is A LOT of snow...if you added up all the snow I had seen in my lifetime it would be no where near! Can you even open your front door??? Hope you defrost over there soon!!!
MyBoyGus - February 6, 2010 05:33 PM (GMT)
We are up to 30 inches now. :surrender:

Yes Emma, I can open the door. The back door is a sliding glass door, and I have been clearing off he front door. And it is a wet heavy snow. Ugh. And it is still snowing. Imagine the pic of Tilly in the banner with snow up to her shoulders. There are many places in the country that can handle this much snow, the Washington DC area isn't one of them.
Rusty's mom - February 6, 2010 05:48 PM (GMT)
I hope you went to the store before this all happened. That is all I think about when we are gettting the snow. Today it is raining so hard and hasn't stopped. The roads are terrible to cross over. EL NINO YO. GO AWAY. :laughingsmile

Yes, I went to the store before it hit. We had a lot of warning. Well, a few days warning anyway. I'm making chili tonight. But I forgot the cornbread, darn.

Its incredible to think how we would deal with THAT much snow...can Gus actually move through it? I actually do love it when it snows here but that is because it is such a novelty...30 inches must be a nightmare! Stay nice and warm mel!!
MyBoyGus - February 7, 2010 02:11 AM (GMT)
I have a pic of Gus out in it, but I haven't downloaded it yet. They just sent a bobcat to remove the snow from our neighborhood, so I should be able to get out tomorrow. I hope I can get out, my mother doesn't have any electricity, and I am worried about her. Her heat is electric and so is her stove and hot water heater. So I will dig my car out tomorrow, and see if I can get there. At least I have power, heat, and hot water.
Harleygirl - February 7, 2010 01:26 PM (GMT)
I am so jealous!!! Love the snow...... we get it often in NH and a foot or more is quite easy to handle but I would love to get a 2-footer here! This winter has been a little quieter here. I think the "blockbuster" storms have mostly been hitting near you. Wasn't there a good size storm in your area the weekend before Christmas? I saw on the news this morning that one area of Maryland got 40 inches!!! The President has called it Snowmageddon!
Rusty's mom - February 7, 2010 04:24 PM (GMT)
I feel so sorry for all of you in this mess. I keep seeing the news and I couldn't handle it. Poor people. That is way to much snow. I hope your mom is alright.
MyBoyGus - February 7, 2010 04:25 PM (GMT)
Yes, we got the storm just before Christmas, but it wasn't as deep as this one. Yes, a few spots got over 40 inches, I can't imagine that. 30 inches is bad enough. That is 2.5 feet! It is as high as Gus's head. I have to shovel out about 10 feet in front of my car, that is a lot of snow. My mother got her power back, so I'm glad. They haven't plowed the streets in her neighborhood yet. Please, come take it! We are at the point now where there isn't anywhere to put the snow you shovel. Oh well, back to shoveling. :shovel:
SuzySues - February 8, 2010 01:47 PM (GMT)
Oh my goodness Mel!!! I hope you can get to your mum today & I really hope you keep your power. We are forcast bad weather here this week, but it won't be anything like that!! Just when I thought Spring was coming its gone all horrible again! Stay safe hun.
MyBoyGus - February 8, 2010 02:06 PM (GMT)
I'm dug out now, and mom has her electricity back. Thanks for asking Sue. We are supposed to get another 4-6 inches tomorrow. They just plowed Mom's neighborhood out, and she is running low on dog food and tylenol for her arthritis, so I will go to the store and get those things and take it over to her.
