Title: What Size Brushes?

MaineMom - November 18, 2009 07:33 PM (GMT)
We will be getting our new puppy Cody in a lil over a month and I was looking at brushes and didn't know what size brush to get!Or if it didn't matter!I didn't know if I should get small ones for his puppy stage than get big ones later or if I should just go straight to big ones?

It might seem a stupid Q to some of you but I was just wondering!:)Thanks for any responses!

I think you can get a small soft brush (slicker or bristle or mix) for now and graduate to a larger one when he gets bigger. Big brushes sometimes are hard to get to those teenie nooks and crannies on a pup and you WILL WANT to make brushing a pleasant experience from puppy hood.

Personally I do not use a slicker on my goldens - for pups I have a small bristle mix brush. For the adults I use a comb first and a bristle mix large brush to finish.

Enjoy the grooming / bonding sessions! :D

When Abbey was a pup I used a soft human hairbrush. We also brought one of those grooming mitts, but she just wanted to play with that!! :laughingsmile
