As I said in the other post, Marshall got adopted yesterday to a really nice family with 3 young kids. They adore Marshall, all of them. Marshall woke the kids up this morning by planting big kisses on their face, Dad loved it. The family only has a 4 foot fence around the yard, which I had warned them probably wouldn't contain him. Marshall, of course, went right over it. He trotted about 3 houses away, and went right back to them when they called. So they will focus on training, and helping him feel like he has a new home. :clap They are only opening the windows from the top, so Marshall can't get out.
I talked to the Dad today, and he said that Marshall didn't have any accidents, and he hasn't touched anything that he shouldn't, which is the way it was when he was at my house. They lost their former dog recently, another rescue with similar behavior to Marshall. It took him a while to settle in, so they aren't surprised or worried about Marshall. Dad came over to get his vet records, which I forgot yesterday, and had his mother come over to babysit Marshall. Too cute! So I am really happy for Marshall. Still keeping my fingers crossed, but so far, it sounds good. :coolpartysmiley
:clap That is good news. Maybe they shouldn't change his name right now.
Wakes up the kids is so sweet. :hugsmiley
I'm sure Dad took Marshall to wake up the kids on purpose, and Marshall would be happy to do it. Maybe it was something that they did with their former dog. The kids loved it too. The little girl who I saw on Sunday and who was hanging on Marshall's neck just loved him, she had such a happy expression on her face.
I don't know what their plans are on the name change right now. Marshall wasn't his name in his former home, I don't know what it was. They all adjust, but I think that dogs will adjust faster if you know what their name was. Marshall was really just starting to answer to that name. When Marshall came back to me the day that he got out, which was less than 24 hours after I got him, I think he was responding to my voice and not his name. I didn't change Gus or Eddie's names, Gus was so panicked about everything and it was his name at his former home, and Eddie has already had his name changed once. If it had been the name that the rescue originally gave him, which was Stimpy (his brother was named Ren), I would have definitely changed it. The foster who had him before I did changed his name to Eddie. The only dog who's name I changed was Punky. When she came to me, her name was Dopey (the pups and the mom were named after Snow White and the 7 dwarfs), and I really didn't want to stick her with that name. Yeah, Punky isn't much better, but she sort of had a mohawk thing going, and I thought it was appropriate for her. So her "official" rescue name was Dopey, but she was called Punky.
