Title: Guess The Breed
Description: I have a few ideas, but who knows

This is Jennie, she is 4 months old. I am fostering her right now. She is not a lab rescue dog, but a pup from a different group. She is a real sweetheart, and quite the cuddler. She is a mix of...something. Right now I am calling her Jennie 57. Gus likes her, but he is in his teaching phase right now, don't jump on me kid. Eddie likes her, but he will let her know if she bites his face. They are such good boys to foster with. Eddie is the one who will play with her some. A family came to see her today, and really liked her. If all goes well, they will take her home on Tuesday. Any guesses to the mix? I have a few ideas, but I want to see what everybody thinks. She is actually cuter than her pic, she is only about 17 lbs now.

OK, here is part of what I think. I think her face looks like a dachshund. She is way too tall to have much of that mix. But look at the markings on her feet, at least on 3 of her feet.

Oh, thanks for reminding me Debbie. A family came by to see her this morning, with a 5 year old little girl and a 10 year old boy, and mom and dad of course. They said they would think it over and let us know. They called their adoption person, and they are in love with Jennie. They will pick her up on Tuesday. Jennie is such a sweetheart, she was loving on them. Gus and Eddie like them too. Eddie isn't always thrilled with new people in the house, and he barked at them at first, but he was eventually giving them stealth kisses. Eddie is so funny, he will sneak up behind somebody and kiss their ear.

Anyway, Jennie will be a good pup for them, she isn't too mouthy for her age. Gus was just horning in to get his pets. What a different boy then when I first got him. He used to be very shy, but now, if another dog gets pets from somebody, he wants them too. Eddie is much better now than when I first got him, but he still isn't quite used to having kids in his house. Gus is an old hand now, he realizes that they might play with him and give him pets. And maybe treats. :laughingsmile

The poor little girl doesn't feel well today. She had a snotty nose since I got her, and has been on antibiotics, but she has felt fine. Her nose was a little snottier today, she threw up her breakfast, and she had diarrhea. She was also not moving around much, just seems like she doesn't feel well. So I called up the rescue to let them know. They have had 2 other pups from the same shelter that have not done well, one passed away. The other is really sick, but doing a little better. They both had really bad cases of whip worms. If it wasn't for those other 2, I might have just kept an eye on her instead of calling the rescue people. At least they are people that I have worked with before.

They were concerned, and called the vet to get their opinion, then had me take her in with a fecal sample. They weren't too worried about her throwing up, could have been because of the antibiotic, or the diarrhea, but they were concerned about the nasal discharge, and her not feeling well, she fell asleep in my arms at the vets. I was carrying her because I didn't want her to get another dog sick. They checked her out, said that she doesn't have kennel cough because her throat isn't sensitive, they are a little worried about distemper. They didn't find any worms, but they dewormed her anyway as a precaution because of the other 2 pups. They also gave me a med to give her for the diarrhea. So I have to keep a close eye on her, and feed her a bit every hour for a few hours. The vet was very specific about how much to feed and what meds to give her when. And I am supposed to call them tomorrow to let them know how she is doing. When puppies get sick, they can get very sick in a hurry. She only weighs about 16lbs. Oh, and they said that she shouldn't be adopted yet, it should wait a few days. The family was planning on picking her up tomorrow, guess it will have to wait. I agree with that, especially because the people have young kids. Keep your fingers crossed for her, there are several viruses going around at that shelter.
