Title: So How Are You Guys Feeling??

Emma&Tilly - November 5, 2008 04:16 PM (GMT)
about your new President??!! I am absolutely thrilled for you and he would be who I would have voted for!!

...he has got a lot to do and lets see how he uses his power and see what he achieves, but I hope he keeps his word!

Bye bye Bush! :whew:

SuzySues - November 5, 2008 04:36 PM (GMT)
I agree with you Emma, but I don't really know what his policies are. I wish we could get someone young & vibrant like him in UK. I have no faith in any of them. An American friend on mine on Facebook is really upset that he got in, but the other fella just seemed to spend all his time slagging Obama off. Bit like the Conservatives over here. :shrug

I am a happy person this morning that he got it. :clap :clap I think he is a good man and will do the best he can.

Start packing BUSH.

I couldn't stand to hear Palin's sqeeky voice one more day.

YES! We are super happy with Obama! He has a big job ahead of him but people really love him - he is so charasmatic and uplifting. I think we really need him right now to get the US back on the right track.....Bush reallly did a number on this country.

I live in Chicago so went to his victory rally in Grant Park - and it was awesome! Now we all just have to wait for January - for when he actually takes office! YAH!!

Hope and Change. I actually took off work today planning on staying up late to hear the results, but it was over relatively early.

I loved in his acceptance speech that he spoke about getting Sasha and Malia the puppy he promised them. His wife and kids have been living in Chicago while Obama was in Washington as a Senator. Senator Biden will have to move too. He has always lived in Delaware and commuted. It's been a long time since we had kids in the White House.

Wow, you were there? Did you see Oprah? :laughingsmile

I'm jealous, in a good way.

GoldenFrost - November 5, 2008 09:22 PM (GMT)
Here is Canada a lot of people wanted Obama in
He should really help Canada and the US in an environmental way. He is all for a clean up :clap

kristyrenee - November 5, 2008 09:24 PM (GMT)
Yes, we were there....I felt super fortunate to get tickets since they were gone in minutes. They kept showing Oprah on the huge jumbotron TV but we didn't actually see her. There were so many people there that we were pretty far back in the sea of people and Oprah was very close up to the front! Brad Pitt was there too.

I thought that was pretty cool too when Barack said he was getting his girls a puppy....my first thought was - I hope its a golden!!

I agree about Caribou Barbie's voice. Aside from her voice, she wanted to take Polar Bears off of the endangered species list and paid people to shoot wolves. She also encouraed hunting from planes and helicopters. I would post a Youtube, but it is just too upsetting.

I see the White House every day, I work in DC. I also see Bush's motorcades and his helicopter all the time. I can't wait until January. I may go to the inauguration in January, we have the day off of work anyway, I guess it is a small benefit of working in DC. This is the first one I have been tempted to go to.

I think it's fantastic. I agree with what everyone else has said. It's time to get us moving forward again and I think he has the energy to do it. And I agree with Mel - it's been a long time since kids were in the White House.

GoldenMom - November 6, 2008 02:21 PM (GMT)
Well, at the risk of getting shot, I am not an Obama supporter as I don't support his moral policies. I can kinda agree on Palin though! The way I look at it is now that he is president he deserves the FULL support of all the people and I will support him. I'm getting pretty tired of seeing all this on TV though, you'd think Jesus Christ came back to earth!

MyBoyGus - November 6, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Lynn, nobody is going to shoot you. I liked McCain in 2000. What Bush did to him in the primary of 2000 was unforgivable. However, he seems to have changed in the last 8 years. I heard one of his 2000 campaign managers say that he didn't understand it, in 2000, McCain and Bush hated each other, and Bush was very popular. Now, Bush is very unpopular, and McCain loves him. However, Palin hurt him badly. The pundits kept talking about what a boost she gave him. Part of that was the post convention bump, and part of it was because nobody had ever heard of her. But once they found out a bit more about her, that changed.

You are right, we need to give him a chance to put this country on the right track. He will make some mistakes, all Presidents do, and when he does, we will all be grumbling about it. I actually think that Obama is the most moral man we have had as President since Carter. Love or hate Carter, he has very strong moral values. Biden has strong morals too, and has tons of experience. That doesn't mean the others were "good" or "bad", just that I don't think the others have as strong a value system.

I really think that the most prepared person to become President is the Vice President. That is the only person who knows what all the President is doing and what security briefs the President is getting, although in this case with Cheney, no thanks.

Peace, I was really glad that the topic never came up on the board before the election. I, for one, don't think that he is anything more than the new generation and a refreshing change. Just from the very disciplined campaign he ran, I think he will run a very disciplined White House.

GoldenMom - November 6, 2008 06:46 PM (GMT)
Thanks Mel! I always feel that when I speak my mind about Obama I'm going to get ripped on. Should have known better here on this forum. No one does that here.

I do like McCain but I do think Palin may have hurt him in the race. At first she was a refreshing change but the more she spoke the more I could see she was not ready to take over the presidency. I don't think Obama is either but he certainly is more ready than Palin. I disagree with him on all of his moral issues so could not vote for him. I will stand behind him though as he will be our president. Yes, he will make mistakes but all the other 44 before him have made mistakes too so we just have to give him a chance and see what he does. Right now our country is so far in the hole I don't know why ANYONE would want the job of president! Obama has a lot in store for him so we will just have to see what he can do. As for Biden, I don't like him much at all and hope he NEVER has to take office! All the man does is stand there and smirk at the camera. When he does open his mouth he sticks his foot in it! As hubby says, everyone thought Truman was going to be a horrible president but he has come off one of the best. So we'll just have to wait, back the man and see
