Title: Aug 26 - Asian Kennel Union Championship Show
molmotta - August 19, 2007 01:22 PM (GMT)
This coming SUNDAY!!
Dyna has been entered. Competition for the goldens are heating up. There seem to be more and more "American" type goldens being imported and entered in shows.
I just got a copy of the latest magazine from the Singapore Kennel Club. It carried a small write up by a judge previously who placed Dyna as Reserve Best in Gundog Group. He said, "this bitch is a nice mover and was well presented in the ring. The coat was a little thinner than one would like. I would prefer a little more leg". Yet another judge in another show (she didnt place Dyna at all) said "...Golden Retrievers were strong numerically, the quality is not quite what I would have liked...I wonder whether the opportunity present itself enough for the breeds to develop the muscle tone and characteristics which are so distinctive..." :laughingsmile
Honestly, Dyna is a very petite golden, despite her lines. She always appear to be a bit "short-legged" because her "skirting" is long!!!
I'll be handling Dyna myself again. I'm trying to keep my nerves steady... hahaha... easier said than done!!!

Ohhhh, good luck Mole! I well know that feeling! Its soooooo nice that you can handle her though, as who knows her better than her momma?? We'll be praying for you and our beautiful Dyna.

Today came and went... we had 15 golden retriever entries!! To me, that must have been the largest number of goldens entered in a local show! So many new names!! There must have been an onslaught of imports in the past few months for this show!! :laughingsmile
BTW, Dyna's usual handler said he'd take her into the ring.
Here's Dyna getting her final touch-ups.

As usual, there were two shows being ran back to back. Dyna only managed to get CC Bitch (Best of Opposite Sex) for both shows - no Best of Breed awards. I am happy enough, given the sheer number and competition. In one of the shows, the judge actually went up to my handler and told him that he is showing a very nice dog (i.e. Dyna) but he (the judge) preferred the English type. :speechlesssmiley

Anyway, the best thing that happened all day was in the afternoon. The Japanese judge picked Dyna's brother for CC Dog and Dyna for CC Bitch. A brother and sister "fight"!!! hahaha!!! Both handlers had a fun bet to see who will win. It didnt matter anymore to us who wins. Dyna's brother got the BOB and Dyna the Reserve BOB. Here's us, Dyna and King with the breeder.

Yes!! King has come a long way. Look at his coat!! I think he had the best coat and colour in the whole show!! Can lil bro share some with Dyna? :D

I think Dyna's coat rocks for a "gurl!"
I remember when I was showing Flirt and her coat was awful I thought. I showed her under all working dog judges because they are known to "go under" the coat and feel for bone structure whereas the sporting judges just kinda "went over" the bones and judged mostly on coat. I had seen Flirt's litter brother and thought the same thing you think about King ----- how much better his coat was than Flirts was. He DID have a coat to die for but males do have more coat (typically) that females. After Flirt's 1st litter her coat came back in much different. It was thick, soft and gorgeous! Took about 8 to 9 months after birthing though!
I think Dyna is beautiful!

Thanks Lynn!!! I do know what you mean by judges who go under the coat and go for the structure. This Japanese judge who pitted Dyna against her brother took a loooooong time to pick his best male. He made them run up and down the ring so many times. Pressed the dogs' back, shoulders, everywhere!! It was like he was picking the strongest!!
I was quite amused when I saw him do that to Dyna because Dyna will push back in the opposite direction whenever someone pushes her!!! hahaha!!! The judge must have felt her "power"!!! LOL

HeeHee - the judge must have been surprised when he pushed on Dyna and got pushed back! That's our girl! Go getum Dyna!
