Title: New Foster Sugar - Updated With Pics
MyBoyGus - April 1, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
She is a 6 month old, freshly spayed. Thats about all that I know about her, she should be en route now. Now all I have to do is try to keep them from playing, since she will be down for a while because of the spay. Fortunately, she should heal fast because the incision isn't as big as it would be if she was older.

Have you got her yet Mel? How is she doing? What does Gus think of her? Any pics!! ;) :woofsmiley

I have her, another mix. I think lab/shepard. She is a very sweet girl, but she has kennel cough. No pics yet, hopefully soon. She has beautiful eyes. Gus is OK with her, but he doesn't like her quite as much as he has the last few. I'm not quite sure why. She really wants to play with Gus. She gives him lots of kisses, which I'm not so happy about because of the kennel cough. She just went on antibiotics though, so hopefully she will be over it soon.

:ph43r: Oh no, Kennel Cough. Gus is sure to get it. I had a rescue once and the same thing. All 8 dogs got it.
That is probably why Gus is looking at her so differently. They know.
Give them both a hug from us. :hugsmiley

Gus has had his bordatella vaccine, and I have had fosters before with KC and Gus hasn't gotten it. I've gotten sick though with bronchitis before when I've had them. If I get bronchitis this time, I'm never taking a KC dog again! Its not supposed to be contagious to people, but sometimes I wonder.

When Abbey had her op she didn't get Kennel cough as she was vacinated, but she passed it to Alfie, poor love it sounds so horrible. I did some research on it at the time & I am sure I read somewhere that we can catch a form of it, so that would explain your broncitus!

I FEEL THAT THE COMMON DOG OWNER DOES NOT VACCINATE FOR KENNEL COUGH UNLESS THEY HAVE TO BOARD THEIR DOGS, WHICH THEN BORDATELLLA IS A MUST.......
IT CAN BE GIVEN BY AN INJECTION WHICH IS GOOD FOR A YEAR, OR A NASAL DROP THAT IS GOOD FOR 6 MONTH......
BUT KENNEL COUGH IS A TOTAL HARDSHIP ON THE DOG DURING THE COURSE OF IT..........
EVEN LAST YEAR AFTER MY 3 HAD THEIR VACCINES THEY STILL HAD A MILD CASE OF IT, BUT YET WITHOUT IT THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN HACKING AND COUGHING AND FEELING LIKE CRAP, WHICH ACTUALLY BIG ""JAKE"" DID GET A HARDER RUN OF IT........
BUT THIS VACCINE/NASAL PREVENTION IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO WORTH IT...ITS TRUELY INEXPENSIVE AND TAKE ONLY A SECOND TO ADMINISTER TO YOUR DOG, SO I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DOSING FOR IT......ESPECIALLY DUE TO HOW HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS IT IS AND HOW FAST IT SPREADS.........
WHEN THEY HAVE KENNEL COUGH, ITS LIKE EVERY MOVE THEY MAKE, EVERY BREATH THEY TAKE, IS A HORRIBLE, ROUGH, HONKING, GAGGING, SPIT UP ( at times) WITH THEIR HEAD HUNG, AND THEIR NOSE ALMOST TOUCHING THE FLOOR. AND EVEN FOR THEM TO EAT AND DRINK IS AN EFFORT TO DO WITH THE NASTY ''''''''''COUGHING""""""", IT USUALLY RUNS A COURSE OF ABOUT 3 WEEKS,EVEN THOUGH ITS USUALLY NOT LIFE THREATENING, IT CAN TURN INTO PHEMONIA (sp) IF IT GET TRUELY DEEP AND FLUIDY INTO THEIR LUNGS--
IN MY GROOM SHOP I REQUIRE A RECORD FROM THE VETS SHOWING THEIR DOGS HAVE BEEN DOSED FOR KENNEL COUGH!!!!!!
DO YOUR FURRY KID A FAVOR AND HELP TO PREVENT THEM FROM EVER GETTING KENNEL COUGH!!!!!!!!!!

My Tara and Larz get the nose drops. They don't like it but it's better then KC
They play with so many other dogs on the beach I want to make sure they are as safe as possible from getting something from a sick dog

Her tongue is not usually that big. It was warm that day and she had been running. You should have seen Gus's tongue! :laughingsmile
She is also a small girl, maybe about 40lbs.
